Special delivery!  A relative of Tony, Mavis Pierson, sent me a box plumb full of handkerchiefs that she had.  I was delighted by the variety as I went through them!

Mavis included a note so that I would know some of the history behind them.  She said some were from the 1950’s when it was customary for people to give a handkerchief in a graduation card. (that or a dollar)  She also said that many came in the mail since they were so easy to send that way.

Before I saw them, I thought I’d use them in some sort of patchwork, but I’m not so sure now.  They hold such dainty charm–it would be hard to make them into anything else.

Thanks Mavis!
