For months now I have wanted to make a natural disinfectant for my under-the-counter cutting board. Germs don’t bother me that much, but I was starting to think that it would be nice to spray something on my built in cutting board instead of just wiping it with a wet dish towel. I discovered today that it couldn’t be easier! In my head I concocted a recipe and then verified it by looking a bit online. Here’s the skinny: Citrus essential oils are naturally disinfecting. If you have a nice high-end essential oil you can add 8-12 drops to a spray bottle of water. That’s it!! Get your spray on! If you have a lower-end essential oil, you will need to add more. Say 1/2 teaspoon-ish. You could also add the powers of vinegar into this mix if you wanted. Fill a spray bottle with half vinegar and half water. Then add your essential oil…either drops for high-end, or 1/2 tspish for lower-end. {The power of a sniff can help you decide how much you need.} This easy mix is perfect for disinfecting your cutting boards and counters! You could even give your bathroom a once over with it!
{I do have separate cutting boards for raw meats that I wash with hot soapy water.}
