I bought some of this really fun fabric from one of my favorite quilt shops, Quilted Treasures of Rogers MN, about 3 years ago…maybe 3…could be 5… I don’t know!  Anyways, one side is suede like and the other side has the snuggly soft plush.  The shop had it done up in a darling baby hat but I failed to purchase the pattern, so I have just saved it in my stash.

Enter this book.  Wonderful!  I immediately “tabbed” about half the projects that I want to do!  There are projects I want to make for my boys, as gifts for my friend’s children, and for my future daughters.  (I hope there are girls in my future–boys are crazy little creatures and it would be nice to have a quiet, polite, gentle, girl.  That’s what girls are, right??)

My first project was this little bear hat for the boys.  I could finally use that fabric in my stash!  The pattern uses a lining and an outside, but this fabric allowed me to eliminate all the lining steps.  Yay!!!  I put the seams towards the outside to add interest and show off the double sided fabric.   I need to add ribbon for the ties and then I will have Elias model for you.  (I was a smart mom to tell him he was a bear when he wears it…he approves!)

I also made these mittens for Espen.  Mittens are so hard for little hands, and these seem to work well for him.  (We got a dusting of snow yesterday and bundled up to test it out.  Nothing like the first  snow to make you feel like a kid again.)

The last project I did was a little bear bath mitt for tub time.  I added an “e” for Elias and Espen.  Maybe someday I’ll make two, but for now they can share.   It was a quick and easy project.

If you enjoy making things for little people, you should totally check this book out!    My next picks from the book are a backpack, scarf, cape…and…and…and…  Did I mention it’s a good book?
