The weekend hasn’t even started yet and I completed two projects! Off to a great start!
Project #1. I bought this little green sweater last weekend for $6. It has a great vintage feel, but I wasn’t loving the gold buttons. I stopped by the craft store this afternoon and picked up a cheap button making kit.
Ta-da! 30 minutes later I have custom buttons and a one-of-a-kind sweater! Can’t wait to wear it with a jean skirt this spring. I wonder what else I can make new buttons for… (Tony better watch his closet or he may go to work with some shabby chic touches. Sewn on with love of course!)
Project #2. I found this old bathroom cabinet at my parents and I removed the mirror and hung the cabinet in my kitchen as a spice cupboard. For years I’ve had this plain mirror just hanging around. (I could never throw something out that may be a future project.) I finally got around to making my vision for the mirror come to life. I raided the garage for some old wood, threw on the ear protection and put the circular saw to work. Nailed a frame together, painted it white, and decoupaged some fabric onto it. I had little strips of fabric left from a quilt, so I sewed them all together in a long strip to wrap around the wooded frame. I was too lazy to buy decoupage so I made my own mix up–about 1/2 glue, 1/2 water. It came out rather cute and I am so happy to have given the mirror a fresh identity.
Stay tuned for the rest of this weekend’s makings!
I’m impressed…. now I know why we’re neighbors! Obviously, you’re much neater than I am… but we sure do spend our “spare” time in like manner! =]
I love that you aren’t afraid to go out to the garage and use a powertool to create your projects!
