Saw a recipe, Roasted Garlic Chicken, on Barefoot Contessa and just had to give it a try. I made it Friday night and we enjoyed it with friends. It is fabulous and very easy to make. Just a whole chicken with a garlic bulb and lemon stuffed in the cavity, butter + salt + pepper + dried thyme on the outside. Throw some potatoes and carrots in the bottom of your pan with a little of the butter and cook at 425 for 1 hour. Remove the chicken and cover with tinfoil. Let the veggies keep cooking in the oven for 15 minutes. Cut your chicken and serve with the veggies. Fabulous!!
Saturday morning Dakota and I headed down to the sewing room. She loves to hang out with me there. I think probably because it is nice and cool, but also because she is a lab and just likes to be with somebody. I made a very simple baby quilt after seeing a picture in Purl Soho‘s book, Patchwork and Quilted Gifts.
I just sewed two pieces of fabric+ batting together, turned it right side out and tied it with embroidery floss. I didn’t want to have to work hard at getting my ties in the perfect places, so I randomly laid buttons on the quilt wherever I wanted a tie. Then when I was ready to tie there, I put the button back in the jar. It might have been cute to actually use the buttons by tying them on, but I worry a little about choking hazards.
I eventually moved to the floor to finish tying my embroidery floss and look who thought she needed some attention. Yup, sort of cute until she decided she also wanted to play with the yellow strings like I was and began pulling them out. The little helper was quickly, well forcefully, well more like wrestled to the side and threatened with being kenneled if she wasn’t careful. Blanket went through the washer and dryer and came out wonderful. Tony thought it was a little boring, but he just doesn’t get it all the time.
I started another project too but I’ll save that for tomorrow’s blog. Hope your week goes well!
