It always happens to me! The day I have all to myself with nothing planned, is the day that I wake up way before the alarm would ever sound during the weekdays. I forced myself to lie in bed for a while and think about what I wanted to do with the hours that stretched before me. Here’s a bit of what went down.
I worked on cutting out fabric for the back of a quilt for a bit, but became stuck when I couldn’t figure out whether the back was really going to work with the top. The top is so simple that I’m afraid the back may overwhelm it. I’ve been trying to use fabric I already have, and this is my best option. But do I really want to use this great fabric as a quilt back…is there a different project it would be better utilized in?! So I’m still stuck.
Went to the Co-op and refilled the egg basket.
Fresh sheets on the bed sprinkled with lemon thyme powder.
Made a sour dough starter. Can’t wait to have fresh sourdough bread. Yum. If you want to make your own, here it is thanks to Betty Crocker.
3 1/2 cups flour
1 pack of yeast (2 1/4 tsp.)
2 cups very warm water
Mix and let sit under loose saran wrap for 2-4 days. Put in a sealed container and throw in the fridge. When you use some you have to replenish it so add 1 1/3 cups flour and 1 1/3 cups warm water. I heard the longer your starter is around and used the better it is, so hit grandma up for some of hers to start your own.
oh, I also picked up some books. One of my favorite things to do is go to bed early and read or read as soon as I wake up. Not a bad way to finish or start the day!
Gotta go get supper on! Tortilla soup with homemade tortilla chips.
