I finally finished mom’s Christmas gift! (I confessed previously that I was not able to finish it on time due to the pregnancy funks.) I decided to make her a Nana’s Garden. I made my own a couple years ago. This is mine.
And this is the one I made for my mom.
It’s rather fun to see them side by side and how different they look. I did change up how I did my hand stitching on mom’s. I was reading in Kim Diehl’s new book Simple Graces: Charming Quilts and Companion Projects (That Patchwork Place) about how she does an overhand stitch vs. the blanket stitch because it is quicker, uses less thread, and you avoid threads that like to roll. I was a little hesitant to try it since I like the blanket stitch so much, but I think I am a convert! I loved it! Totally faster, a clean look, and a saver on my thread supply.
Can you see the difference? I did use 2 different threads in each sample, so you can see the difference in those, but not much else.
Hope you like mom! Merry Belated Christmas!!
